Private security guards are praised in many situations, their job has been commended not only by clients but also by numerous leaders who are conscious of the circumstances in which they operate. In an event, Union Minister Amit Shah mentioned various pointers for the benefits of the Private Security Agency and launched an internet portal to facilitate the agencies work process.
In the event Union Minister Shri Amit Shah launched the private security agency licensing portal which will help Security Agencies to obtain licenses online and also help in the verification of Security Guard. The portal will be available in all major Indian languages within the next 90 days
A security guard’s police verification has been the biggest issue encountered by private security agencies so far. Today 90 per cent of the country’s police stations are computerized, which will ease their police verification and will immediately understand that there is no criminal record for the guard you are having.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah while launching the portal, encouraged private security agencies to provide welfare projects launched by the govt such as health insurance, health check-up and guard pension.
He said “Private security agencies can also recruit students trained by the National Cadet Corps (NCC), so you can get raw material who are full of Desh Bhakti (patriotism) and that too at government cost”
He also mentioned that private security agencies are one of the leading job providers in India. He said presently 90 lakh people were employed in the private security sector and it had the potential to generate 2-3 crore more jobs.
Mr Shah also asked the owners of private security agencies should invest in insurance for security guards. “All it takes is a contribution of ₹22 per year for insurance coverage of ₹2 lakh under the government scheme and said agencies must ensure that every private security guard has a ‘Jan Dhan’ bank account for salary disbursement and there should be no cash transactions with them”
The home minister said for achieving Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s goal of making the Indian economy USD five trillion and asked private security agencies should work in this direction.
Once the entire process is completed, the licenses will be available online and can be downloaded by the operators, which minimizes the interface for the private security industry, which employs more than 21 per cent of individuals as compared to the overall strength of police officers who were only 1.9 million.

Addressing the gathering, he mentioned the important role of security guards in the 26/11 terror attack in Mumbai and praised how bravely security guard reduced the ability of the terrorists to harm.
